Prison consulting and advocacy services for pre/post sentencing & incarceration
"From pre-sentencing to parole, Craig quarterbacked my entire bid. He wore many hats for my family, friends, and me. His extreme knowledge of the NYS DOCCS guided me every step of the way. Whether it was with CASAT applications, work release applications, shock incarceration applications or appeals, Craig spearheaded all of them I have a great support system and Craig was there for their countless questions and he was also there just as a shoulder of support for this very difficult and scary time for them. He was also a voice of reason and comfort for me whether it was a 30-minute phone call or a 3-minute phone call. I served 20-months on a 2 to 6 year sentence and Craig led the way. He has become part of my family and a simple thank you isn't enough."
My 70-year-old client received a 36-month federal sentence. Before he self-surrendered, I compiled a complete clinical history (diagnosis, treatment records, and PSI corroboration) and pre-qualified him with Psychology so he could be screened for RDAP immediately; he entered the program in his second month. I coordinated medical clearances, set a clean-discipline plan, and aligned his work detail and classes so nothing conflicted with RDAP milestones. In parallel, I worked with his case manager and the RRM to lock an employment and housing plan for prerelease. As soon as he reached eligibility, his RRC placement was approved at month 13, allowing him to complete the community-based transition phase and finish his term closer to home.
"At an extremely difficult and dark time in our life, Craig was there for my husband and our family. He was knowledgeable, honest and supportive. Craig guided us through the DOCCS maze and was with us every step of the way until my husband came home."
"Thank you, Craig, for everything you did for us while I was incarcerated, especially for taking my calls when I felt the walls were closing in on me. I am grateful for your guidance & support for the parole board hearing and for making sure I was awarded merit and came home early."
Retained while client was already incarcerated on a sentence of 1 to 3 yrs. Prepared and filed clients Parole Report. Client was approved on Merit Parole earning 2-months off for merit (good time) and released at 10-months time served.
A client in federal custody had dropped 40 pounds in nine months—20 in the prior two—was in constant pain and was only given Tylenol. I relentlessly advocated and forced a proper medical evaluation off prison grounds where he tragically was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer. I immediately partnered with his attorney and were able to successfully obtain his release so he could be with his family during his final weeks rather than dying without dignity in prison.
Contacted by client's grandmother for home client was the primary caretaker. Client around 26-27 years old at time of attempted burglary. Suffered from serious drug addiction and while under the influence tried to break into a Duane Reade with two friends. Abandoned by his parents at a young age client was raised by his grandmother. Worked to ensure proper programming was satisfied and what programming might be available in order to return client home to his elderly grandmother in a speedy manner.
My client received a 24-month federal sentence. From day one I built a prerelease roadmap—programming, work detail, clean discipline, and documentation—to qualify him for community placement at the earliest lawful point. I coordinated closely with the case manager and the Residential Reentry Management office, packaged medical/family need and employment plans, and kept the file ready. When eligibility opened we already had a release plan, and verification of residency, and employment in place, so approval moved quickly. We arranged his transfer to a Regional Reentry Center after only eight (8) months, giving him a structured transition home instead of finishing the remainder of his time inside and waiting many more months before going to an RRC.
Retained by client after sentencing while at Nassau County Jail awaiting transfer to the NYSDOCCS. Client was sentenced to 24-months determinate. Client was medically disqualified from SHOCK so we go client approved for the SHOCK Alternative Program (intensive ASAT) and client was released after 15.5 months.
